THERAPEUTIC APPROACH

Personalized Attention for All Your Needs

Perhaps you're down or anxious - maybe you're unsure about the future of a relationship, or just feel that you aren't living the life you were meant to lead. Maybe your relationship is strained and your sex life is not where you would like it to be.  Whatever your needs may be, I am here to offer support. Therapy is a process of growth and self-discovery, and in my sessions I promote behavioral transformation by encouraging a positive outlook and the adoption of new attitudes and reactions. I have the tools and professional experience to help you get back on track.

I utilize an integrated therapeutic approach consisting of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Sex Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. Each person is unique and would benefit from their own tailored and individualized treatment plan.

COUPLES THERAPY

Restoring Love, Connection, and Intimacy

Working with couples is a unique skill set that requires training and ongoing consultation for the therapist.  I use an integrative approach to meet the needs of each couple. Each couple presents with unique challenges requiring a tailored approach.  I work with couples who are in committed relationships, LGBTQ+, marriages, couples in crisis, and couples unsure if they want to continue the relationship. I continue to seek training to learn cutting edge integrative approaches such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Relational Life Therapy (RLT), and Gottman’s research.

Sex Therapy

If you want to achieve your life and relationship goals with a trained sex therapist, I can help you.  There are many reasons an individual may need support from an expert on issues related to sex and intimacy.  You may have lack of information or feel embarrassed about sex. You might have questions about relationships and sexual health and you want to work with someone who is dedicated to providing the counseling that is effective.  Sometimes conflicts can keep you from being closer to people you care about.  Anxiety, trauma, or other mental health conditions can prevent you from being able to fully engage with your partners in the way you desire. Whatever the case may be, we can work together to create a safe comfortable atmosphere where you can achieve the results you want.

CLINICAL SUPERVISION

Teaching

I have been privileged to teach graduate students, Associate Social Workers (ASW's), and Marriage and Family Therapists (MFT's). I offer continuing education, teaching, and coaching therapy modalities, psychodiagnosing and the DSM-5.  Currently, I teach graduate students at California State University Sacramento (CSUS). I also supervise ASW's and MFT's working on their clinical hours to become licensed with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

If you are in need of clinical supervision for yourself or your organization, please feel free to contact me.

ABOUT ME

JessicaV.jpg

Originally from the Bay Area in Northern California, I received my undergraduate degree at University of California, Berkeley where I studied Sociology and Psychology. I then completed my postgraduate education at the University of Denver where I received a Masters in Social Work with an emphasis in psychotherapy, certification in trauma studies, with and global studies. My education at UC Berkeley developed my enduring passion for understanding how systems and our social lives influence our mental health.  Sociology fostered an appreciation of diversity, equity, culture and the mechanisms for the importance of social change. My graduate work focused on psychotherapy with adolescents, families, and couples focusing on Adverse Childhood Experiences, Complex Trauma, and PTSD. Besides my personal practice, I'm currently a part-time faculty member at CSUS. I also serve as a Clinical Supervisor.
